Nell's Corner

As the Holidays approach I always think of my grandmother, Nell. I miss her so much. When I was a little, she was always telling me to be strong, work hard and pay attention. Paying attention was a common term used by her as I was a 'busy child', per say. I guess now this behavior is labeled as ADHD or something to that effect. My grandmother never made me feel like I was different, or I needed to be corralled; I was just given extra tasks to burn off all my energy. When I needed to slow down and stay on task, I tried my best to focus until I could finally run and play. Grammy had her own way of getting things done and made sure I understood what was expected of me if I was involved. I think because I was a busy child, she taught me sewing and I loved it! As many of my fellow seamstress friends are aware, it is a skill of multitasking, creating, slowing down, speeding up and of course taking apart and maybe starting over again. I have a picture I wanted to shared today of Grammy. I believe it captures her personality and flavor for life. This picture is with Granny and her friends on their apartment building in Syracuse, NY. They look like they are having fun and enjoying being young! This picture was probably taken around 1926. I think of her just about every day. I appreciate the fact she held me to higher expectations, did not let me slack when I needed to focus, and made me do my research before I jumped into any decision in my life. Forever Thankful. God Bless and Happy Thanksgiving to you all!
